Me pidió que almorzáramos cubiertas de pieles. Lejos de
las risotadas de los hombres, nuestra agitada vida secreta.
Recuerdo sus ojos, la delgada cuerda de su columna vertebral.
Ésta es tu taza, susurró, y ésta es la mía.
Bebimos el líquido dulce y caliente y nos dijimos guarradas.

OPPENHEIM’S CUP AND SAUCER
She asked me to luncheon in fur. Far from
the loud laughter of men, our secret life stirred.
I remember her eyes, the slim rope of her spine.
This is your cup, she whispered, and this is mine.
We drank the sweet hot liquid and talked dirty.
As she undressed me, her breasts were a mirror
and there were mirrors in the bed. She said Place
your legs around my neck, that’s right. Yes.

CAROL ANN DUFFY, nacida en Glasgow, en 1955, es una poeta y dramaturga británica. Es Poeta Laureada, es decir, poeta de la corte del Reino Unido desde abril de 2009. Duffy vive en Mánchester y es catedrática de poesía en la Manchester Metropolitan University. Ganó en 1983 el National Poetry Competition, en 1988 el Premio Somerset Maugham y en 1993 los premios Costa Book Award y Forward Poetry Prize, así como el T. S. Eliot Prize en 2005. Ha ganado en varias ocasiones el Scottish Arts Council Book Award. Como dramaturga, sus obras han sido representadas en el Liverpool Playhouse y Almeida Theatre en Londres. En sus obras teatrales se incluye Take my Husband (1982), Cavern of Dreams (1984), Little Women, Big Boys (1986), Loss (1986), Casanova (2007). Tiene doctorados honorarios de Universidad de Dundee, la Universidad de Hull, la Universidad de St Andrews, y la Universidad de Warkwick, así como una insignia Honorífica en Homerton College, Cambridge.
